As many as 100 foreign students from several countries enrolled at the Padjadjaran University (Unpad), Bandung, organized a cultural and culinary exhibition at the Jatinangor Campus, Sumedang District, on Tuesday.
The foreign students at the university competed to showcase the culinary arts and typical cuisines of their respective countries at the outlets available in the area.
As part of the cooking activity, the international students were assisted by their Indonesian counterparts at the university. The activity also served as a platform to share their experiences and knowledge. The participants displayed a variety of dishes and typical cuisines of their countries as part of a culinary exhibition by the Indonesian students at the university.
The event is part of the activities organized to commemorate "Global Insight and International Day 2016."
"Through this event, the Padjadjaran University will contribute by introducing Indonesia to the international world," Unpad Rector Prof. Dr Tri Hanggono Achmad stated.
According to Hanggono, globalization is of key significance in the current era and is no longer a new thing.
"If we do not get involved in such forums, we will not be able to keep up with the global developments. These include introducing Indonesia to the outside world," he emphasized.
Hanggono expressed hope that the event will help the university students gain a deeper understanding of other cultures and develop a global outlook.
