Thailand reported 20,571 new COVID-19 cases and 261 more deaths today (Saturday), while 23,159 more patients have recovered, according to the CCSA.

Of the new infections, 20,322 were locally acquired and 235 are among prisoners.

Cumulative infections, since April 1st this year, are 1,001,418 and cumulative infections since last year are 1,030,281. Cumulative recoveries are 791,538 and total death toll is 8,993, since April, and 9,087 since last year.

202,230 patients are still being treated, 45,061 in general hospitals and 157,169 in field hospitals. 5,171 are severe cases,of whom 1,123 are on ventilators.

Of the 261 deaths today, 139 were men and 122 women, aged from 15 to 109. Among them are 250 Thais, 6 Myanmar citizens, two Cambodians, one Chinese and a Belgian.

Bangkok has the highest death toll, at 88, followed by 21 in Samut Sakhon, 15 in Ayutthaya, 6 in Chon Buri, 5 in Nakhon Ratchasima and 4 each in Songkhla, Yala, Roi Et, Chaiyaphum, Ubon Ratchathani and Nakhon Nayok, 3 each I Chumpon, BuriRam, Kalasin, Udon Thani and Phichit, 2 each in Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi, Pattani, Yasothon, Loei, Sukhothai, Nakhon Sawan, Chachoengsao, Sa Kaeo and Kanchanaburi and one each in Phatthalung, Ranong, Satun, Khon Kaen, Si Sa Ket, Surin, Trat, Chanthaburi, Rayong and Ang Thong.

Bangkok also has the highest single day infection rate at 4,342, followed by 1,584 cases in Samut Prakan, 1,449 in Samut Sakhon, 1,235 in Chon Buri, 613 Nakhon Ratchasima, 589 in Nakhon Pathom, 587 in Chachoengsao, 541 in Ratchaburi, 450 in Buri Ram and 436 cases in Kanchanaburi.
