Alleged peeping tom faces dismissal from the Royal Thai Navy

A Royal Thai Navy (RTN) investigation committee has recommended that a naval officer, who allegedly installed spy cameras in a female restroom at a naval hospital in Sattahip naval base, be dismissed from the service for serious misconduct, according to RTN Commander-in-Chief Admiral Somprasong Nilsamai.

He said today (Saturday) that the probe panel already completed its investigation and has found that the conduct of the officer, Lieutenant Colonel Kiatikorn Mangkang, attached to the information technology division at Queen Sirikit naval hospital, has caused serious damage to the RTN’s reputation and has recommended that he should be sacked.

Two spy cameras were recently discovered, hidden above the ceiling of the restroom by maintenance workers who were replacing faulty electrical wires. The cameras were found to be connected to desk-top computer in Kiatikorn’s office.

During initial interrogation, the naval officer allegedly admitted that he had installed the spy cameras in 2015. Officials then checked his computer and found more than 1,000 clips of his victims, several of whom are officials and trainees at the hospital who have lodged complaints with the district police.

The suspect is currently being detained, reportedly to prevent him from attempting to intimidate his victims.
