Army to hand over hospital bomb suspect to police tomorrow

The Army will hand over the 62-year-old hospital bomb suspect, Watana Pumret, to the police for further investigation tomorrow.

The suspect, a retired engineer at the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) will be handed to Royal Thai Police commissioner Pol Gen Chaktip Chaijinda, and his deputy Pol Gen Srivara Rangsibhramnakul, at the Royal Thai Police headquarters after he was under the custody of the Army for seven days.

The suspect has admitted to be responsible for six bombing incidents in Bangkok since the political unrest in 2007.

Watana's mistress was also questioned by the military as she was believed to be involved.

The woman involved because the bomb suspect went to see her just before he would leave to do his task at the Phramongkutklao hospital.

However the police said they will not yet seek warrant for her arrest pending more investigation after Wattana is handed over to them tomorrow.

Police only have arrest warrant for Wattana.
