Bangkok: Countdown to the 33rd SEA Games is underway as Bangkok gears up to host the sporting event from December 9-20, 2025. Mr. Sanont Wangsangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, chaired a crucial meeting to assess the city’s preparedness to welcome participants and spectators from eleven nations. The opening and closing ceremonies will take place at the Rajamangala National Stadium, with 30 sports scheduled across 28 venues. The city anticipates hosting over 25,000 individuals, including athletes, team officials, interpreters, volunteers, and VIPs, all of whom will be accommodated in 22 hotels.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sanon has urged relevant agencies to expedite the implementation of various preparation plans. Key focus areas include the display of SEA Games flags along major routes and landmarks, as well as the coordination of traffic and transportation to stadiums and accommodation sites. Additionally, sufficient medical personnel will be stationed to ensure the safety and well-being of all attendees. Renovation efforts are also progressing for Wessan Sports Buildings 1 and 2 to facilitate indoor hockey events.

The city extends an invitation to the public to cheer for the Thai national athletes and showcase their hospitality as hosts. Starting November 26, 2025, interested individuals can register for free tickets to attend the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as the competitions.
