Benz Racing indicted in court

Benz Racing, a leading car racer, was this morning indicted by the state prosecutor of drug trafficking and money laundering charges at the Criminal Court.

Benz Racing, or Akkarakit Woraroj-Charoendej, arrived at the court today with his mother and lawyer to hear the charges filed against him by the Narcotic Suppression Bureau (NSB) police.

The NSB has requested the Criminal Court not to grant him temporary release on bail reasoning that the crimes he committed carry death penalty and the release might encourage him to escape.

He told reporters this morning on arrival at the court that he remained confident of his innocence and had no involvement whatsoever in drug trafficking and money laundering ran by the arrested Laotian drug baron Xaysana Keopimpha, and his Thai friend Nattapol Narkham or Boy.

He has prepared 3 million baht worth of assets to seek bail after the hearing of the charges.
