Bangkok: “Chain Thana,” also known as Thanatrat Chat, has publicly accepted fraud charges related to the non-payment for goods worth 79 million baht. He expressed his regret and acknowledged his current debt situation, emphasizing that he cannot find happiness until his debts are settled.

According to Thai News Agency, Thanatrat Chat and his wife, Kanikar, appeared before investigators for the second time after being summoned in relation to allegations made by Company T. The company accused them of fraud concerning the production costs of products. Although the police did not detain the couple, citing their compliance with the summons, they are scheduled for another appointment on November 26.

Thanatrat Chat explained that the initial charges were met with denial, as he claimed that all products were still in his possession and unsold. He initially viewed the matter as a civil dispute, but the prosecutor’s decision to pursue criminal fraud charges prompted him to acknowledge the accusations. He expressed sh
ock over the criminal proceedings and vowed to present evidence to prove he did not intend to deceive.

The issue stemmed from his order of two product lots from Company T. While the first batch initially sold well, complications arose when the FDA flagged issues with advertising permissions, forcing a nationwide recall. Furthermore, the products delivered did not match the original specifications, with a color discrepancy being a significant point of contention. Thanatrat Chat detailed that these products, valued at over 60 million baht, remain unsold in a warehouse.

During a tearful press conference, Thanatrat Chat disclosed that he was advised to engage in misleading advertising practices, a suggestion he ultimately rejected due to the FDA’s scrutiny. He highlighted his ongoing financial struggles since 2021 and reiterated his commitment to repaying his debts. He emphasized his emotional and financial investment in his company, Amado, linking his own well-being to the company’s success.

When questioned a
bout his preparedness for the fraud charges, Thanatrat Chat expressed confidence in his documentation and sales contracts. He clarified that the delays in responding to summonses were due to the need for document retrieval from the company involved.

Addressing past allegations of fraud and issues related to the Check Act, he noted that the initial court ruling dismissed the fraud charges, though an appeal is underway. He admitted to a court-ordered imprisonment under the Check Act but is currently out on bail as he contests the decision.
