Thailand's northern region will face a further 3-5 degrees drop in temperature, and 1-3 degrees in northeastern region, while the south will have more rains beginning today until early next year, the Meoteorological Department said today.
In its weather forecast released today, the temperature drop in the northern region was caused by the high pressure system moving down from China has already blanketed the whole area and will remain until end of the year.
Its presence will result in the drop in temperatures from 3-5 degrees Celcius, and strong wind in the North, and 1-3 degrees fall in the Northeast.
For the central region, temperatures will decline 2-4 degrees.
Meanwhile there will be strong winds and high waves in the Gulf of Thailand. It advised small boats to stay on shore until January 1 as waves of 2-3 metres high are expected.
More heavy and very heavy rains are also expected during the period as northeasterly wind blowing in the Gulf of Thailand and the southern region will be strengthened.
