Thailand hosted the Sixth Conference of ASEAN Plus Three Ministers Responsible for Information (6th AMRI+3) via videoconference on Friday, 12 March 2021, under the theme "ASEAN: A Digital Community with Accessibility for All.”
The virtual conference was held at the meeting room on the first floor of the Government Public Relations Department (PRD) Auditorium, Soi Aree Samphan, in Bangkok. It began at 13.00 hr, with the Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Anucha Nakasai, chairing the meeting.
Also joining the meeting were Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office Mr. Theerapat Prayurasiddhi, PRD Deputy Director-General Mrs. Sudruethai Lertkasem, and PRD executives.
Mr. Anucha stated that, Thailand, as chair of AMRI from 2020 to 2022, is aware of the importance of enhancing cooperation with Plus Three countries, namely China, the Republic of Korea, and Japan. The 10 ASEAN countries have joined hands with the three countries in many projects. Among them are co-production of documentaries, media personnel development, and broadcasting technology development.
They have also cooperated in promoting better understanding and relations between the people in ASEAN and Plus Three countries. During the COVID-19 crisis, these dialogue partners have supported ASEAN in terms of information, medical equipment, and pharmaceutical products.
They have also offered contributions to the ASEAN COVID-19 Response Fund, which will be used in the procurement and allocation of essential medical supplies and equipment, as well as development of vaccines and medicines.
The 6th AMRI+3 reported progress made in cooperation between ASEAN and the Plus Three countries, in accordance with the Work Plan on Enhancing ASEAN Plus Three Cooperation through Information and Media 2018-2023.
As the next chair of the AMRI+3 in 2022, Vietnam informed the meeting of the schedule of the 7th AMRI+3 in 2022.
