The Department of Industrial Work (DIW) today ordered Charoen Pokphand Foods Pcl (CPF) to cease it's wastewater treatment system for 30 days until it has improved it's system to have more safety and efficiency.
The order by the DIW director general Mongkol Pruekwatana came after a tragic mishap on June 23 which claimed the lives of five people falling to death in the wastewater tank from suffocation, one of them was a student trainee, and others were the company's employees.
The deaths of five people were found to be from lack of understanding in the rescue of people falling into the wastewater treatment system as they went down with no protection equipment.
Besides industrial officials inspecting the factory's wastewater treatment facilities also found many barricades that posed difficulties to rescuers to reach the scene immediately, thus resulted in many deaths in the incident.
