A drug gang was smashed by 191 Police after it used social media to receive orders and deliver them to customers on postal services.
The crackdown of the gang was revealed yesterday by Pol Maj Surachet Hakparn, commander of the Patrol and Special Operation Division or widely known as 191 Police.
Six people of ages 21-25 were arrested and 41,224 methamphetamine tablets, 8.2 grammes of Ice or crystal methamphetamine, 10 kilogrammes of marijuana and 2 bags of Kratom were seized along with 200 herbal soaps.
The commander said the gang used Facebook and application Line to make contacts with customers, mostly students.
After receiving orders, the drug would be packed in a parcel containing herb soap and sent to customers via postal services.
He said the gang put herbal soap in order to suppress the drug scent and to avoid detection by X-ray.
Most drugs were delivered to Surat Thani, Chumphon, Phatthalung, and Udon Thani.
The six persons, who included a girl student, were arrested from a rented room at a condominium on Ramkhamhaeng Soi 112.
Their arrest came after a couple were arrested earlier for selling drugs via social media. Confession by the couple led to the search of the rented room and seizure of the drugs.
