Electronic cigarettes and Baraku pipes seized from a pavement stall in Pattaya

Pattaya police seized a large quantity of electronic cigarettes, Baraku water pipes and smoking equipments worth altogether about 100,000 baht from a pavement vendor in front of the Royal Garden shopping mall early Sunday morning.

The vendor, identified as Thawatchai Muakdaeng, 33, was arrested by the police and taken to the tourist police office for questioning.

Pol Lt-Col Piyapong Ansarn, Pattaya tourist police inspector, said that the raid of the pavement stall followed a tip-off from Good Samaritan that electronic cigarettes and Baraku water pipes were put on sale openly on the pavement in front of the Royal Garden shopping mall.

Earlier, police from 191 special action force and customs officials raided several shop houses in Phasi Charoen district, Bangkok, and seized many electronic cigarettes and Baraku pipes.

The police also learned that large quantities of the smoking devices has already been distributed to several outlets in tourist destinations such as Pattaya.
