Ex-Uthai Thani MP arrested for carrying arms in public

Former Uthai Thani MP Mr Chada Chaiseth and his six underlings were arrested in Uthai Thani's Nong Kha Yang district on Saturday after police found six handguns and one Ecstasy pill in their car.

A combined force of police from the Crime Suppression Division, the highway, railway and tourist police, led by Pol Col Charoonkit Pankaew of the CSD, stopped their cars about five kilometres from Wat Loom Khai in Tambon Loom Khao where Chada had just attended a cremation ceremony.

A search of the car uncovered six handguns and one pill of illicit drug. There were charged with illegal possession of firearms in the public after they were escorted to Nong Kha Yang district police station.

Latest report on Sunday said police later released Chada and his five underlings on 50,000 baht bail each after the sixth, 46-year old Thanakorn Saengklin, admitted that the drug belong to him for consumption.

Chada is an influential figure in Uthai Thani province.
