Fire ravages shophouse restaurant in Narathiwat

A fire broke out early Saturday morning (March 31) at a three-storey shophouse restaurant in downtown Sungai Kolok district of Narathiwat in the Deep South, causing severe damage to property but no one was injured.

The fire happened on the second storey of the row shophouse restaurant Bak Mui which is adjacent to the district’s famous Tomo Chinese shrine.

Fire trucks were called in to fight the fire which raged quickly because of the large quantity of merchandises and fuel materials stocked inside the restaurant.

The restaurant was owned by Mr Kriangsak Denrasamithep.

Firemen took an hour to keep the fire at the scene without spreading further to adjacent shophouses.

Forensic police were investigating the cause of the fire.
