Flood spreading in southern provinces

All the 23 districts of Nakhon Si Thammarat is under water on Tuesday with the worst hit districts by flash flood being Sichon, Noppitum, Chulabhorn and Cha-uad.

In the Bor Sap community in Tambon Po Sadet, Muang district, the flood water level was measured at two metres by average on Tuesday.

The provincial administration has stepped up efforts to provide relief materials to the flood victims.

In Surat Thani province, seven districts are submerged today. In Bang Yod community in Phra Saeng district, the swollen Klong E-pan swept into the community on Monday and the water level averages almost two metres deep.

In Trang province, flash flood from Banthad mountain range and Thung Song district of Nakhon Si Thammarat pushed up the water level in Trang river, overflowing its banks and inundating three districts. So far, nine districts are submerged by today and over 30 schools in Rasada district were forced to shut down.

In Chumporn province, over 2,000 households are affected as flood has spread to cover six districts as heavy rains continue to lash the province unabatedly.

Two days of torrential rains coupled with high tide have caused flooding in several districts of Songkhla. Classes are suspended as several schools are forced to shut down.
