Many houses and cars as well as crops in Nam Som district of Udon Thani province were damaged when the district was battered with heavy rain and hail storm on Wednesday(Apr 25).
Many cars were running on roads in the district when heavy rain and hail storm struck. Some of them successfully took cover under buildings or roofs, but several others were totally exposed to the hail storm which lasted for about half an hour.
Nam Som district chief officer Samart Munnok said that the damage to properties could not be estimated yet, but he thought it would be substantial because the hail storm was quite bad.
However, he said he had already instructed all kamnan and village heads in the district to immediately conduct a survey to assess the damage once the rain has stopped.
Besides Nam Som, other districts such as Nong Harn, Kumpawapee, Pen, Na Yoong and Muang districts were also lashed with heavy rain and hail storm from summer storm.
