Minor earthquake rocks Chumphon

Residents living in three villages in Tambon Bang Nam Jerd of Lang Suan district, Chumphon province were awakened from their beds after a minor earthquake rocked the areas late afternoon yesterday.

One house was damaged when its concrete wall was cracked.

The minor quake 2.9 magnitude centres in Lang Suan district at 18.24 pm and lasted for 15 seconds.

Lang Suan district chief confirmed the earthquake but said it was minor and one house was damaged.

But the Seismological Bureau said it received information from residents that they felt the quake during 6.00-7.00 pm yesterday.

However it said checking during the time showed no happening of earthquake in the area or its vicinities.
