OAG suspends municipal’s plan to acquire two sets of CCTV at 1.6 million baht

The Nakhon Si Thammarat-based 14th regional branch office of the Office of the Auditor-General has suspended the Muang municipal's project to procure two sets of CCTV system to be installed around a land fill, claiming that the 1.6 million baht cost is overpriced.

An informed source said that the project to install the CCTV system at the landfill in the borders of Tambon Na Khien and Tambon Na Sai in Muang district was proposed by the mayor, Mr Chaowas Senpong, to the municipal council, claiming that the project was initiated by the provincial governor.

The municipal council approved the project by eight votes in favour against five with five abstentions.

However, Ms Ampai Yuktavet, director of the OAG's regional branch office, ordered the project to be suspended because the 1.6 million baht price tag was excessive.

Also, the proposed use of the Central Fund to finance the project was illegal because the Central Fund was meant for projects or spending regarded as emergency.
