According to Thai News Agency, OBEC has pledged not to abandon flood-affected schools in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The Commission is committed to ensuring the well-being of students and teachers, following directives from both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education.
Mr. Pichet Phophakdee, Secretary-General of OBEC, reported that a primary school in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province had been flooded for over 77 days, as highlighted on social media. He assured that immediate assistance was provided by the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Educational Service Area Office 2 (PEASO 2). The school followed safety protocols and emergency response plans mandated by OBEC. School closures were in line with the Ministry of Education’s regulations, which account for special circumstances like public disasters. Furthermore, OBEC has formed a committee to oversee the situation and prepare for the upcoming semester in 2025. This includes collaborating with relevant agencies to assist during and after the floods, renovating educational facilities, and maintaining the teaching environment. A budget of 960,000 baht has been allocated for repairing damaged school buildings and other structures. OBEC has also instructed district offices to survey the damage swiftly to facilitate urgent repairs, following guidance from Prof. Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the affected province on September 27, 2025, to oversee relief operations. He directed local agencies to accelerate relief efforts, which include evacuating victims, providing essential supplies, and establishing sanitary shelters. Prof. Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, along with Deputy Minister Ong-art Wongprayoon, visited the area on October 8, 2025, to offer support and distribute relief materials.
