More than one million people visited the Royally-initiated Oon Ai Rak KIai Kwam Nao (Royal Winter) festival at the Royal Plaza which came to a close on Sunday.
Dressed in pink traditional costume, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graced the festival Sunday night � much to the joy and happiness of the visitors, many of whom also dressed themselves up in traditional costumes to match with the old days' atmosphere.
Initiated by HM the King, the festival which started on February 7 featured beautiful flower orchards, impressive old days' structures, exhibitions of the Thai way of life and traditional Thai cuisines, performances and the art of food decorations of the Court to evoke the good old days. Visitors were encouraged to don traditional costumes of King Chulalongkorn's era to reflect the close bondage between the Monarchy and the Thai people.
Before the visit of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sindhorn, privy councilor Admiral Pongthep Nuthep paid a visit to the festival on behalf of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun. He presided over the drawing of the Oon Ai Rak charity lottery with the result to be announced in Daily News newspaper dated March 13-14.
