Two people were killed and 15 others injured after a pick-up truck ran counter the traffic flow and crashed into a number of cars and motorcycles waiting for the green light at an intersection on Pattaya Tai road in Tambon Nong Prue of Chon Buri's Bang Lamung district on Monday morning (Dec 4), police said.
Most of the killed and wounded were students. The wounded were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Eyewitnesses said they saw the black pick-up truck run counter the traffic flow at a high speed and ram into the vehicles which stopped, waiting for the green light, at the intersection.
The pick-up truck was badly damaged, so were many other vehicles hit by it.
Police arrested Akradet Udomrat, 44, the driver of the pick-up truck. Akradet said he went unconscious after sufferring an epileptic seizure and did not know what happened.
In a search of his vehicle the police found many medicines in a black suitcase.
The man was detained for further questioning, pending charges.
