Pipe bomb explosion near old lottery office on Ratchadamnoen Avenue

Explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) police said the explosion last night in a garbage bin near the Government Lottery Office on Ratchadamnoen Avenue that injured two city cleaners was caused by a pipe bomb.

It was pipe bomb because EOD police inspecting the scene found part of the electronic circuit believed to be iused to set the time, and a pipe.

A meeting was called today at Chanasongkram police station to determine the motive of the perpetrator leaving the low-pressure pipe bomb in the garbage bin.

Initially the police believed the perpetrator did not intend on life or damage to property as it was just a low-pressure homemade pipe bomb.

The actual motive would be assessed by the police at the meeting today.
