Prime Minister Anutin to Oversee Deportation of Illegal Immigrants in Mae Sot

Mae sot: Prime Minister Anutin plans to urgently travel to Mae Sot to oversee the deportation of foreigners who have entered the country illegally. This move aims to strengthen international cooperation, fight scams, and maintain border security to protect citizens and curb transnational crime.

According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson, Siripong Angkasakulkiat, stated that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul is set to visit Mae Sot Airport in Tak Province. The visit will focus on overseeing the deportation of illegal immigrants, as part of the government’s immediate measures to enhance border security, curtail transnational crime, combat scams, and ensure public safety.

This mission follows the Prime Minister’s directive to manage and monitor security conditions along Tak Province’s border, with an emphasis on suppressing scammers and call centers. Thailand is actively collaborating with neighboring countries to protect its citizens, while also offering assistance to other nations based on human rights principles.

The Prime Minister’s itinerary includes arriving at Mae Sot Airport at 12:15 PM to meet with the Indian Ambassador to Thailand. The meeting will underline cooperation in managing foreign personnel and enhancing border security within the bilateral framework.

From 12:45 to 1:30 PM, the Prime Minister will review duty performance and receive briefings from several units, including the Thai-Myanmar Border Command Center, the Third Army Region, Provincial Police Region 6, and the Immigration Bureau. These briefings will cover security, transnational crime, suppression of border call center gangs, and repatriation operations.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister will issue a policy statement and witness the repatriation of 195 foreign nationals of Indian nationality on an Indian Air Force passenger plane. He is scheduled to leave Mae Sot at around 1:30 PM and arrive at the Police Aviation Base in Don Mueang, Bangkok, by 2:15 PM.

The Prime Minister’s Office spokesperson highlighted that this mission underscores the importance of well-organized and standardized border management under Prime Minister Anutin’s leadership. It aims to prevent illegal immigration, transnational crime, call center gangs, human trafficking, and illegal labor use, while promoting cooperation with partner countries, particularly India, with a focus on citizen protection and adherence to human rights principles.
