The Cabinet, during its meeting on 29 September 2020, approved the extension of the period of the enforcement of the Declaration of an Emergency Situation in all areas of the Kingdom for another month, from 1 to 31 October 2020.
The decision was made following a proposal by the Office of the National Security Council in order to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
The Office of the National Security Council, as the coordinating office of the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), reported that the global situation of the COVID-19 outbreak remains severe in many parts of the world.
The Government has implemented several measures to stimulate the economy by allowing more groups of foreigners to enter the Kingdom. The country, therefore, has some risk of a second wave of COVID-19 transmission.
The Government considers it necessary to maintain the Declaration of an Emergency Situation in all areas of the Kingdom for a further period of time. This will facilitate the operations of relevant officials on a continual basis, so that they will be able to handle the COVID-19 situation with great efficiency.
CCSA, during its meeting on 28 September 2020, approved the proposal to extend the duration of the Declaration of an Emergency Situation (sixth extension) and agreed to submit it to the Cabinet for approval.
