Sukhothai: Flooding in Sukhothai continues to expand, now significantly affecting the economic areas of the Sukhothai Thani Municipality. The situation remains a pressing concern as water levels rise and overflow into commercial districts.
According to Thai News Agency, water from the Mae Lamphan Canal has spread into the Mueang District, particularly impacting the economic zone on the west bank of the Sukhothai Thani Municipality. The flooding has reached the Khlong Pho community, submerging homes and forcing residents to relocate their motorcycles to higher ground. The roadways in front of shops on the west bank are under more than 30 centimeters of water, prompting shop owners to use sandbags in an attempt to prevent water from entering their premises. The inundation has also made it challenging for smaller vehicles to navigate the flooded streets.
The floodwaters have caused some businesses to temporarily close. Sukhothai Hospital, which is also affected by the rising water, has issued a statement urging patients with non-urgent needs to delay their hospital visits. For those with severe symptoms or in emergency situations, Srisangwon Sukhothai Hospital, located 20 kilometers away, is available to provide necessary medical care.
