Thailand beat the Dominican Republic 3-2 to advance to the second round of the FIVB Women’s World Championship 2022 in the final match of the first round for Group B, in the city of Gdansk, Poland, at 7pm on Saturday night (Thai time).
The Thai team took the lead in the first set, scoring 31-29,only for the Dominican Republic to equalise in the second set, scoring 25-16. The Dominican Republic went on to win the third set 25-21, but the Thai squad fought back fiercely to equalise at 2 sets all, scoring 25-22.
The two teams settled for a fifth decider set, with the Thai team finally emerged the winner, defeating Dominican Republic 15-11.
The hard-fought victory means that the Thai team has earned a place among the 16 teams, including the Dominican Republic, which advance to the second round.
