YALA, Thailand The Yala Train Station has been bustling with Muslim Thais waiting to board the train to return home to celebrate the end of Ramadan, the National News Bureau of Thailand (NNT) reported.
Many of them said they wanted to travel home ahead of Wednesday, when more Muslims in Yala are expected to make their way home to be with their loved ones to celebrate Eid al Fitr.
The first day of the celebration, which is also known as the festival of fast-breaking, will be determined on Thursday by the Sheikhul Islam Office of Thailand.
Police have been deployed at the train station to provide safety with the number of passengers expected to increase as the festival approaches.
