Thailand officially enters dry season today

Thailand has officially entered the dry season, starting today (Saturday), which will last until mid-May, according to the Meteorological Department.

It said that the northeastern monsoon wind, which had been blowing through northern Thailand, has been replaced by the warm southeastern wind, signaling the arrival of summer.

Temperatures during the dry season are forecast to be at a minimum 25oC and increase during daylight hours.

During early summer, the northern and northeastern regions of Thailand still experience cool weather in the morning and will be relatively cold in mountainous areas.

In Bangkok and its suburbs today, excessive amounts of PM2.5 dust are covering 29 areas, with the worst-affected being Maha Chai sub -district in Muang district of Samut Sakhon, where PM2.5 -was measured at 71 microns this morning.

The other 28 affected areas are Kanchanapisek Road in Bang Khun Thian district, 53 microns; Song Khanong sub-district in Samut Prakan, 51 microns; Om Noi sub-district in Krakhum Ban sub-district, Samut Sakhon, 55 microns;  Paknam sub-district in Samut Prakan, 57 microns; Khlong Noeng sub-district, Pathum Thani, 51 microns.

Intharapitak Road in Thon Buri district, 51 microns;  Din Daeng Road in Din Daeng district, 65 microns; Khlong Goom sub-district, 55 microns;  Khlong Sam Wa district, 52 microns;  Rama 6 Road in Phya Thai district, 51 microns;  Lat Phrao Road Soi 95, Wang Thong Lang district, 63 microns;  Rama 4 Road in Pathumwan district, 54 microns.
