Thailand’s Wichit Chao Phraya 2025 Event Adjusted to Honor Late King

Bangkok: The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced the postponement of the “Wichit Chao Phraya 2025” event, initially scheduled to commence on November 1, 2025. The event will now take place from November 9 to December 23, 2025, along the banks of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. The adjustment comes as a gesture of respect and mourning following the passing of the King.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, stated that the event’s schedule and format have been revised to honor the late King. The traditional fireworks display will be replaced with a drone light show, reflecting a more somber and respectful mood. The color scheme and lighting will also be modified to align with the mourning period.

The TAT has also invited the public to participate in the “Candlelight of the Land” event on New Year’s Eve. This initiative encourages people to light candles in tribute to His Majesty the King, to demonstrate loyalty and remember his contributions.

Despite the changes, “Victory of Chao Phraya” remains a significant cultural tourism event in Thailand. It merges art, light, sound, and the ambiance of the Chao Phraya River. This year’s edition will adopt a simple and elegant style to appropriately honor the late King.
