Transport Company Prepares for Increased Winter Travel Demand

Bangkok: The Transport Company (BKS) is gearing up to facilitate travel during Thailand’s winter season by preparing buses and drivers to ensure safety across all routes. Mr. Atthavit Rakjamroon, President of the Transport Company Limited (BKS), Ministry of Transport, disclosed that Thailand is entering its peak tourist season with the onset of winter. He anticipates a significant influx of tourists and residents eager to enjoy the cooler weather, especially in the northern and northeastern provinces such as Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nan, Loei, Nakhon Phanom, and Sakon Nakhon. The Transport Company is set to provide an average of 6,000-7,000 round-trip bus journeys daily to accommodate 90,000-120,000 passengers along these routes. Plans are in place to increase the number of trips to meet rising demand while ensuring adequate mileage. The focus remains on safety, convenience, punctuality, and fair pricing. Currently, the company facilitates 5,000-6,000 round-trip journeys daily, serving 80,000-90,
000 passengers.

According to Thai News Agency, the Transport Company Limited (BKS) and bus operators have been instructed to rigorously implement safety measures for both buses and drivers. Preparations before travel are emphasized, including thorough checks of buses to ascertain their readiness before departure. Speed limits are set at a maximum of 90 kilometers per hour, with a requirement for two drivers on long routes exceeding four hours. Passengers are also urged to wear seatbelts throughout their journey. These measures aim to enhance safety, improve service efficiency, and bolster passenger confidence in public transportation.
