Troubled economy prompts Thai junta cabinet reshuffle (dpa German Press Agency)

Bangkok (dpa) – Thai military government has reshuffled its cabinet
amid a poor economic outlook for 2015.

The Thai King officially endorsed the proposed new cabinet in the
Royal Gazette on Thursday.

Deputy Prime Minister Pridiyathorn Devakula, seen by many as the
architect behind recent economic policy, was among those to lose his
position in the cabinet.

His portfolio as economics tzar was reallocated to Somkid
Jatusripitak, a former finance minister, who will oversee economic
matters.

The finance minister, a separate cabinet position in Thai politics,
was also replaced by the former head of a state-owned bank.

Thailand downgraded its projected economic growth for the year to
under 3 per cent, down from the nearly 4 per cent forecast at the
beginning of the year.
