The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) today (Jan 29) issued a weather warning over variable weather in upper Thailand and heavy rain and strong wind waves in South.
The weather turbulence is a direct impact from the strong high pressure system or cold weather which is now blanketing northern Vietnam and is moving down to cover Thailand's northeastern region today.
The TMD said during Jan 29 to Feb 4, thundershowers are expected and then temperature will fall sharply 6-8 degrees Celsius with strong winds. The northeast will be affected first, followed by the North, the East, the Central including Bangkok and vicinity where the temperature will be decreased by 4-6 degrees Celsius.
It warned people to take care of their health for abrupt weather change and advised farmers to prepare for possible damages to their crops.
For the South, rains will increase and high waves are expected in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea from Jan 31- Feb 4 due to the stronger northeast monsoon.
Small boats are advised to remain ashore during the period.
