1.2 Million Register for Advance Voting in Thailand

Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand has reported that 1.2 million people have registered for advance voting over a 15-day period.

According to Thai News Agency, the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has provided a detailed summary of the registration figures for advance voting and overseas voting. During the period from December 20, 2025, to January 3, 2026, a total of 1,264,103 individuals registered to vote in advance of the upcoming elections. This figure includes 4,837 voters who opted to vote within their electoral district, 1,148,146 voters who registered to vote outside their district, and 111,120 voters who registered to cast their ballots outside the Kingdom.

The registration was opened to accommodate citizens who have pressing commitments or reside outside the country, as well as officials who will be engaged in duties on election day. This registration period extends until January 5, 2026, for these groups, ensuring they have the opportunity to participate in the electoral process.

Furthermore, citizens who initially registered for advance voting but subsequently decide not to vote on February 1, 2026, have the option to cancel their advance voting registration. This cancellation enables them to participate in the general election and the referendum scheduled for February 8, 2026.
