Bangkok: Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, MP and leader of the Palang Pracharath Party, has firmly stated that he has no plans to return to the government. Amidst speculation about potential shifts among MPs, Gen Prawit assured that all members remain loyal to the party after verifying the votes personally.
According to Thai News Agency, Gen Prawit addressed the situation concerning Lt Col Thammanat Prompao, MP for Phayao and advisor to the Kla Tham Party (KTP), who predicted that more MPs from the opposition might join the KTP. Gen Prawit confirmed that after checking the votes within the Palang Pracharath Party, there were no indications of any members planning to leave. He reassured the media by noting that all MPs attended the recent meeting.
Speculation has also arisen about the Pheu Thai Party possibly recruiting the Palang Pracharath Party to join the government. However, Gen Prawit chose not to respond to these claims, while Mr. Paiboon Nititawan, secretary-general of Palang Pracharath Party, dismissed the rumor altogether.
When questioned about his aspirations to return to the government, Gen Prawit emphatically declared, “I won’t,” before departing the party premises. Mr. Paiboon also commented on remarks made by former Prime Minister Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra in Chiang Mai Province. Mr. Thaksin reportedly said he would not bring the Palang Pracharath Party back into government. Mr. Paiboon interpreted this statement as an attempt to flirt, humorously suggesting that Mr. Thaksin’s words lacked conviction.
