Bangkok: The people are ready to offer their support for economic policies to solve the cost of living problems. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, the party-list MP and leader of the People’s Party, emphasized that in the next election, if ‘Pheu Thai’ admits to past mistakes, they may consider collaboration. He noted that setting conditions in advance is not prudent, as situations can change, and discussions should occur closer to the election. The People’s Party aims to push economic policies as a solution to the country’s challenges.

According to Thai News Agency, after the 2025 annual general meeting of the People’s Party, Nattapong, along with party secretary Sarayut Jaiyak and deputy party leader Pakornwut Udompipatsakul, announced the meeting’s resolutions. The agenda included amendments to party regulations, performance reports, financial statements, and election preparations. A prior seminar focused on building a robust party, increasing member participation, and strengthening the internal power structure.

Election preparation is divided into policy creation and candidate readiness, aligning with people’s needs in 2027. Training for politicians began in April and will continue until June 13. The party seeks individuals interested in politics and policy-making, inviting those who desire change to join.

Nattapong highlighted that the party’s goal is not just electoral victory but forming the best government. He criticized the current government for corruption and inefficiency, proposing that the People’s Party can offer a better alternative. He acknowledged the former Future Forward Party as a beacon of hope and stressed the need for the People’s Party to work closely with the populace and present future policies focusing on politics, civil service reform, and the economy.

Nattapong also addressed the perception that previous votes for the Move Forward Party came from those disenchanted with the current administration, emphasizing the need for transparent, corruption-free politics. He stated that economic policies addressing living costs resonate with all demographics and that the People’s Party is committed to presenting these as viable solutions.

Regarding potential voter abstention in the next election, Nattapong expressed confidence that effective communication of campaign ideas and policies will maintain public hope and trust. He reiterated that the People’s Party will not align with the current government form, which excludes people from decision-making, unless significant changes occur.

Nattapong clarified that conditions for collaborating with the Pheu Thai Party include acknowledging past errors. He emphasized that conditions are not solely dictated by the People’s Party and that other parties also set terms. The focus remains on developing ideas and solutions for the people, which will ultimately influence electoral decisions.

He acknowledged that forming a single-party government depends on public trust and addressing party discipline issues. With proposals to solve economic problems, Nattapong believes successful internal reforms will translate into electoral support.

Confident in legal proceedings involving 44 former Move Forward Party MPs, Nattapong assured that their legal teams are fully engaged. The situation has not distracted him from his commitment to the party’s work.
