2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia Likely Rescheduled to 2035

Manila:The 2034 FIFA World Cup in Saudi Arabia is expected to be rescheduled to early 2035 to avoid the extreme summer heat.

According to Thai News Agency, the tournament's usual June-July schedule is likely to be shifted to January-February 2035. This adjustment is being considered due to the intense summer temperatures in Saudi Arabia, which can reach between 40-50 degrees Celsius, making it challenging to host the event during that time.

Additionally, the months of November and December are not suitable due to Ramadan, which will occur from November 12th to December 12th. By choosing January-February 2035, FIFA aims to avoid the high temperatures and the religious observance, while ensuring the competition concludes before the Hajj pilgrimage in mid-February.
