Bangkok: Strict security measures are in place as 41 Thai nationals involved in an online gambling network case are being received after the completion of legal proceedings in Laos and they begin the process of verification and screening according to Thai law. Today, at the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge No. 2 permanent border crossing (Mukdahan-Savannakhet), Mr. Chalit Thipkham, Deputy Governor of Mukdahan Province, oversaw the repatriation of 41 Thai nationals arrested in connection with an online gambling network. They are accused of acting as system administrators for an online gambling network in Kaysone Phomvihane City, Savannakhet Province. Authorities seized 78 computers and 42 mobile phones as evidence. All suspects have completed their legal proceedings in Laos before being repatriated to Thailand through the cooperation of relevant agencies in both countries. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chalit Tipkham, Deputy Governor of Mukdahan Province, revealed that the 41 Thai citizens will undergo strict screening and verification according to Thai law. Following the screening, if any individual is found to be a victim of human trafficking or deception, they will receive protection and assistance through state mechanisms. Those found to have committed offenses will be prosecuted by police for online gambling-related offenses or other crimes based on the available evidence.
