Cruel auntie uses knife to slit throat of young woman at funeral, seriously injuring her; relatives of the injured person vow to take the matter to the end. The incident occurred late last night (19 Oct 2014) inside a temple in Tambon Sathing Phra, Amphoe Sathing Phra, Songkhla Province. The injured person, Ms. Wilaiporn, aged 36, was severely injured and was rushed to the hospital by a palm knife. The perpetrator, Ms. Sawi, aged 68, rode a motorcycle away and dropped the palm knife used in the incident. Villagers who were at the scene said that before the incident, they were sitting at the same table as Ms. Wilaiporn (the injured person) and saw Ms. Sai (the perpetrator) walking around, but they didn't think much of it. But suddenly Ms. Sai walked up from behind and grabbed Ms. Wilaiporn's head. She used a knife to slit Ms. Wilaiporn's throat in front of her tablemates before the knife slipped out of her hand. Then Ms. Sai ran away on a motorcycle. She tried to chase after her but couldn't catch up. Later , it was reported that Ms. Sai turned herself in at Satun Police Station, confessing that she committed the crime because Ms. Wilaiporn (the injured person) was her debtor. Recently, when collecting money from the injured person, she refused to pay. Three days before the incident, they argued to the point of fighting. Then, today, they met at a funeral, so she committed the crime. The police have charged her with attempted murder and will take her to be detained this coming Monday. Relatives of Ms. Wilaiporn contacted reporters to say that they wanted the police to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law, fearing that the case would be hushed up and she would be granted bail because when she turned herself in, local leaders were present. They feared that they would not receive justice. Source: Thai News Agency
