Bangkok: Abhisit Vejjajiva and Anucha Chulanon are leading a crucial campaign in the Watthana, Dusit, and Ratchathewi districts, advocating for the "Community-Based Healthcare" policy with the goal of reducing waiting times and addressing healthcare inequality.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri, the Democrat Party's candidate for Bangkok Governor and number 5 on the ballot, is amplifying his campaign efforts. He is joined by Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, the party leader, as well as Mr. Sakoltee Phatthiyakul and Mr. Ongart Klamphaiboon, who serve as deputy party leader and advisor to the party leader, respectively. Their campaign trail included a walk through the lively Phra Khanong and Rung Arun Market areas in Watthana, where they received a warm reception from local vendors and shoppers along Sukhumvit 71. Despite the busy morning traffic, Mr. Anucha engaged with the public to discuss pressing issues such as economic challenges and the necessity for road improvements to create safer trading environments.
The campaign also included a visit to Public Health Center 21 Wat That Thong, one of Bangkok's 69 public health centers under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. This particular center serves as a significant primary care unit for the community. During the visit, Mr. Anucha addressed concerns from patients about overcrowded waiting areas and delays in the registration process. In response, he proposed urgent policies aimed at implementing a 'Fast Track' system for elderly and chronically ill patients to eliminate long waiting periods of 1-2 weeks. Furthermore, he emphasized increasing the ratio of medical personnel to daily patients to reduce inequality and ensure accessible healthcare for Bangkok residents close to their homes. Mr. Anucha also took the opportunity to meet with parents at Wat That Thong School, expressing his dedication to enhancing the quality of life from the family level upward.
