Bangkok: Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, has urged relevant agencies to investigate a leaked audio clip allegedly featuring Deputy Minister of Interior, Sakda Wichiansilp. The audio clip purportedly reveals details about the transfer of civil servants during the election period. Abhisit questioned the authenticity of the clip, asking if people still believed it merely sounded like Sakda. He stressed the importance of determining whether the clip violates any laws and insisted that, if found illegal, appropriate action must be taken.
According to Thai News Agency, Abhisit expressed concern that such incidents could undermine public confidence in normal processes and stated his desire to prevent such occurrences. He indicated that the responsibility for investigating the matter would depend on the nature of the content and whether it breached any election laws or other regulations. If any illegal activities are confirmed, Abhisit assured that measures would be implemented.
When questioned about the ongoing release of videos attacking various parties and his assessment of the current political climate, Abhisit commented that competition often leads to the use of such tactics. He noted that while these actions are undesirable, it is imperative for parties to continue progressing independently.
