Bangkok: Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, has reinforced his dedication to constructive politics, aiming to inspire hope for the future of Thai children.
According to Thai News Agency, during a visit to the Lak Si-Chatuchak district, Mr. Abhisit, accompanied by Mr. Korn Chatikavanij and Ms. Kardee Leowpairoj, the party's prime ministerial candidates, engaged with the public at Bong Marche Market. Mr. Rapeepatt Sumethochotimetha, candidate number 14, joined them. The visit emphasized policies focused on future development, particularly maternal and child welfare. These policies include income compensation for mothers of newborns, nutritional promotion, and continuous savings for children until they reach 18. Additionally, plans are underway to create a more flexible education system under the "education buffet" concept, allowing children to choose subjects based on their aptitudes and accumulate skill sets.
In the economic arena, Mr. Abhisit announced the ambitious goal of achieving 5% GDP growth within four years if the Democrat Party leads the government. The strategy involves creating "new economic engines" in industries like food, wellness, electric vehicles, and clean energy. Legal reforms and technology adoption are also on the agenda to boost income for citizens and the government, which will support social welfare initiatives.
On National Children's Day, Mr. Abhisit urged young people to maintain hope and set life goals. He advised political leaders to foster patriotism and national sovereignty through strength without exacerbating conflicts, to ensure Thailand's peaceful and stable future.
