Bangkok: Ning Panita started the year with a tough challenge, becoming a victim of scammers who created a fake LINE account and hacked it to promote an online gambling website.
According to Thai News Agency, actress Ning Panita had a distressing start to the year, posting an urgent plea for help after scammers impersonated her on LINE. They communicated with the sewa brand team via an official LINE account, claiming to have received complaints from customers about unanswered messages. They then used a trick to instruct an admin to follow instructions and send a link to invite the team to become an admin of the sewathailand LINE OA. The team believed it was Ning Panita due to the impersonation, before the scammers hacked the official LINE account, which has over 200,000 followers, and used it to promote an online gambling website.
Actress Ning Panita has also posted an update requesting help, stating that her LINE OA account, Sewathailand, has been illegally controlled by malicious individuals and is being used to deceive the public. She emphatically clarified that neither she nor the Sewathailand team are operating the account. Ning further revealed that scammers are impersonating her and the Sewathailand team, posing as administrators or staff to trick people into clicking on messages or links, which could lead to financial harm. She is currently coordinating with LINE to resolve the issue urgently and warns the public to only contact official channels if they encounter any suspicious activity and to avoid believing or clicking on links from unreliable sources.
Ning Panita apologized for the inconvenience and thanked everyone who helped report and share the information to prevent others from falling victim to this scam. However, late last night, sewathailand's official channel announced that the system has been restored to normal and urged Seva customers who received such messages or links to please not click on them and delete the message immediately.
