Admiral Pairoj Fueangchan Takes Command as Royal Thai Navy’s New Chief

Bangkok: The Royal Thai Navy conducted a formal ceremony at their headquarters in the Old Palace to transfer the duties of Commander-in-Chief from Admiral Chirapol Wongwit to Admiral Pairoj Fueangchan. This significant event took place at the Throne Hall, marking a smooth transition of leadership within the navy’s ranks.

According to Thai News Agency, Admiral Chirapol, the outgoing Commander-in-Chief, performed the ceremonial handover, which included inspecting the honor guard and signing the official transfer of duties. During the ceremony, Admiral Chirapol presented Admiral Pairoj with the insignia and flag of the Commander-in-Chief, symbolizing the transition of authority. He also extended an invitation to the King to partake in auspicious blessings to mark the occasion.

In his address, Admiral Chirapol reflected on his tenure since assuming the post on September 30, 2024. He emphasized his commitment to impartial governance and the upholding of the Royal Thai Navy’s honor and dignity. Despite budget reductions due to economic and global conditions, Admiral Chirapol acknowledged the dedication of all naval personnel in maintaining national defense and supporting civil duties. He expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their cooperation and support during his service, recognizing the Royal Thai Navy as a valuable national force.

Admiral Pairoj, as the new Commander-in-Chief, received high praise from Admiral Chirapol for his capability and dedication. Admiral Chirapol expressed confidence in Admiral Pairoj’s leadership and encouraged naval officers to support him as he guides the navy forward. Admiral Pairoj, in turn, acknowledged Admiral Chirapol’s contributions and expressed his commitment to continue building on the navy’s legacy of service to the nation.

The ceremony concluded with a 19-gun salute in honor of Admiral Chirapol, attended by navy personnel and military media. Admiral Chirapol, the 58th Commander-in-Chief, leaves behind a legacy of strategic policies aimed at enhancing the Royal Thai Navy’s regional maritime security stature.

Admiral Pairoj Fueangchan, the newly appointed 59th Commander-in-Chief, brings with him a wealth of experience and education, including a Master of Maritime Policy from the University of Wollongong and various leadership roles within the Royal Thai Navy. His appointment is effective as of October 1, 2025, under the gracious approval of His Majesty the King.
