Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Advances Air Navigation Infrastructure

Bangkok: Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (ARIT) is taking significant steps in response to the Ministry of Transport's policy by advancing the development of air navigation infrastructure. This initiative includes designing airspace, improving flight routes, reducing fuel consumption, and considering societal, community, and environmental factors.

According to Thai News Agency, ARIT is poised to align with the Ministry of Transport's policies, aiming to establish a modern, efficient, and interconnected transportation system. This framework is intended to facilitate public access and opportunities, promote clean energy usage, and lay infrastructure foundations. The urgent policies focus on addressing public concerns, reducing living costs, enhancing safety, and expediting projects that align with the country's sustainable development goals.

Mr. Patarapong Pataraprasit, Deputy Minister of Transport, emphasized the importance of overseeing Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Co., Ltd. (AeroThai), the nation's air traffic control body. He directed AeroThai to adhere to government and Ministry of Transport policies, accelerating air navigation infrastructure development. The adoption of modern technology, airspace design, and flight path improvements are crucial in handling the increasing flight volume. The aim is to ensure safety according to international standards while considering social, community, and environmental aspects. AeroThai successfully managed air traffic during the recent Songkran festival, meeting targets and providing excellent service.

Mr. Surachai Nuphrom, Deputy Managing Director and Acting Managing Director of ARIT, reported that during the Songkran festival (April 10-19, 2026), there were 25,317 flights nationwide, averaging 2,532 flights per day, marking a 1% increase from the previous year. Suvarnabhumi Airport recorded the highest flight volume, followed by Don Mueang Airport. Among regional airports, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Samui, and Krabi Airports saw substantial flight activities.

Aeronautical Radio of Thailand continues to manage air traffic efficiently, ensuring smooth and safe air traffic control services. This capability supports tourism and contributes to driving the country's economy.
