Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Marks 78 Years with Focus on Sustainable Aviation

Bangkok: Celebrating its 78th anniversary, the Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Co., Ltd. (AeroThai) is reinforcing its commitment to advancing air navigation services towards sustainability. Mr. Patarapong Pataraprasit, Deputy Minister of Transport, highlighted the challenges and developments AeroThai faces in enhancing infrastructure to elevate Thailand's status as a regional aviation hub. This involves improving equipment, technology, and personnel to meet higher standards, support the growth in flight volume, and foster a sustainable aviation industry, thereby benefiting the tourism sector and stimulating the economy, all while considering social, community, and environmental responsibilities.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Patarapong emphasized that managing the airspace is a crucial mission for AeroThai, involving security, economy, and travel confidence. The company is focused on upgrading air navigation standards and services with a particular emphasis on safety. Mr. Surachai Nuphrom, Deputy Managing Director and Acting Managing Director of the Aeronautical Information Service (AIS), stated that AIS is ready to implement modern technology systems to enhance air traffic services efficiency. This includes the THAILAND MODERNIZATION CNS/ATM SYSTEM (TMCS) to boost Thailand's capacity for future air traffic volume and develop air traffic services efficiency and safety using a hybrid Digital Tower system for major airports and a Remote Tower system for smaller airports.

Preparations are also underway to provide air navigation services at U-Tapao Airport to support economic growth. This involves designing and developing airspace for metroplex airports, improving flight routes, and converting single-route flights into parallel routes both domestically and internationally to handle increasing flight volumes.

Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (AROT) is committed to providing environmentally friendly air traffic services under the Green Air Traffic Management (Green ATM) concept, following Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO) guidelines. AROT recently received the CANSO Green ATM Level 2 certification, marking it as the first air navigation service provider in the Asia-Pacific region to receive this award. This recognition reflects AROT's dedication to environmental conservation and aligns with the global aviation industry's sustainable development goals. AROT also engages in activities to raise awareness and reduce environmental impacts, integrating and building networks with communities surrounding airports as part of its 78th-anniversary celebrations.
