Anthony Hudson Poised to Lead Thai National Football Team

Bangkok: Anthony Hudson, aged 44, has emerged as the leading candidate to become the head coach of the Thai national men’s football team, succeeding Masatada Ishii, the former Japanese coach whose recent dismissal caught Thai football fans by surprise.

According to Thai News Agency, Hudson, currently serving as the technical director of the Football Association of Thailand, is expected to replace Ishii despite the latter’s recent success, including a commanding 6-1 victory over Chinese Taipei in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. The Thai team still retains a chance to advance to the finals, contingent on winning their upcoming matches against Sri Lanka and Turkmenistan.

Hudson’s coaching journey began in 2008 with Real Maryland Monarchs in the United States after he obtained his UEFA Pro License. His career has seen him manage various teams, including the New Zealand national team from August 2014, where he achieved 9 wins, 7 draws, and 11 losses over 27 matches. He later served as interim manager for the US national team, recording 2 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss. His experience in the Qatari league and with BG Pathum United in Asia further bolsters his credentials, with a notable record of 7 wins, 3 draws, and 2 losses in 12 matches at the latter club.
