Bangkok: Anucha Burapachaisri, the Democrat Party's candidate for Bangkok Governor, alongside Chuan Leekpai, former Prime Minister and Chairman of the Democrat Party's Advisory Council, visited the morning market in Tambon Ruamchok, Lat Phrao district. The visit aimed to emphasize "honest politics" and listen to the concerns of vendors regarding their livelihoods.
According to Thai News Agency, vendors in this community market, established over 40 years ago, expressed issues related to eviction threats and the burden of a 5,000 baht monthly rent, which impacts their profit margins. They also raised concerns about foreigners taking over their selling spaces by impersonating Thai citizens. Despite these challenges, the vendors maintain cleanliness and seek to preserve the market's charm.
Addressing these issues, Anucha proposed a comprehensive policy for district offices to conduct thorough inspections, establish standards for sidewalk widths, and clearly define trading zones. The plan includes using technology to ensure vendors are genuine, aiming to reduce potential corruption.
Chuan Leekpai reiterated the Democrat Party's commitment to "honest politics," highlighting its importance in eradicating corrupt practices that affect governance. He urged voters to select candidates who demonstrate capability and integrity, emphasizing transparency and scrutiny in Anucha's governance if elected.
Anucha announced a major campaign rally at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, emphasizing the party's vigorous efforts to present its vision for Bangkok over the next four years. He noted positive public response and assured residents of transformative policies that promise hope and opportunity.
