Bangkok:Anutin Charnvirakul has acknowledged criticism of the government's handling of recent flooding and has apologized to those affected.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin, who serves as both Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, stated after a meeting at the Royal Thai Police Headquarters that he is committed to expediting water drainage and providing comprehensive relief and recovery efforts once floodwaters recede.
Anutin emphasized the importance of civil servants across all units listening to public concerns, addressing issues promptly, and offering assistance tailored to the needs of affected areas. Despite public criticism, he remains undeterred and is focused on facilitating solutions, including rapid water drainage and infrastructure repairs. Anutin also mentioned plans to visit affected areas to gain firsthand insight into the challenges faced by residents.
He urged those in flood-stricken areas to seek medical treatment if needed and advised evacuation from high-risk zones. The government, along with police and other agencies, is prepared to offer necessary support. For post-flood recovery, Anutin highlighted the importance of collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to ensure efficient use of resources and prevent overlapping efforts.
