Anutin and Macron Discuss Strategic Partnership Expansion

Paris: Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul held discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron during a dinner hosted by the President at the Presidential Palace in Paris. The purpose was to further elevate bilateral relations to a strategic partnership. Both sides agreed to expand trade and investment, particularly in future industries where France has expertise, such as alternative energy, aerospace and aviation, smart power transmission, and infrastructure for AI and data centers. Several French companies have expressed interest in investing further in Thailand, while France is also open to investment from the Thai private sector. The Prime Minister also reiterated his commitment to concluding the Thailand-EU Free Trade Agreement negotiations this year, believing it will be a significant turning point for both countries' economies.

According to Thai News Agency, in the area of security, both countries are preparing to expand cooperation in cybersecurity to jointly combat call center scams and transnational online threats, building upon their joint military exercises at Cobra Gold.

Regarding Thailand's stance on the regional situation, the Prime Minister affirmed Thailand's commitment to sovereignty and international law. Concerning the cancellation of MOU 44 with Cambodia, due to a lack of progress for almost 25 years, Thailand has shifted to using the international law and UNCLOS (Universal Principles and Obligations of Civil and Commercial Code) in discussions.
