Anutin Asserts Border Patrol Unit Blast Was Accidental, Orders Tighter Ammunition Security

Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, addressed the recent explosion at Border Patrol Police Unit 21. He confirmed that the incident was an accident and not connected to ongoing tensions at the Thai-Cambodian border. Emphasizing control over the situation, Anutin directed agencies to enhance security measures at ammunition depots to prevent future occurrences.

According to Thai News Agency, Anutin disclosed that he had convened a meeting with General Phana Klaewplodthuk, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, and General Chaiyapruk Duangprapat, Chief of Staff of the Royal Thai Army. The meeting aimed to assess the security situation as they had not convened recently. Anutin reiterated the readiness of the armed forces to safeguard Thailand's sovereignty and affirmed the government's commitment to supporting military efforts to maintain peace and order.

Despite the controlled press conference, Anutin avoided questions regarding his discussions with the Army Chief on the potential appointment of the new Defense Minister. He abruptly ended the session, leaving analysts to speculate about future changes in the security sector.
